The CRA’s vision of a sustainable, inclusive, and trusted charity retail sector can only be achieved by acknowledging the structural inequalities in our society, challenging discrimination and changing structures through all that we do and stand for.
If charity retail is open to a wider range of opinions and experiences, we can learn more and make better decisions. This policy is a journey, and we commit to building on it. We are willing and ready to improve, challenge and be accountable.
As a team, we are dedicated to providing a harassment-free and inclusive experience for everyone interacting with us, regardless of gender identity and expression, sexual orientation, disabilities, neurodiversity, physical appearance, body size, ethnicity, nationality, race, age, religion, or any other protected category.
Each and every person in our community should have a positive and rewarding experience when interacting with us, so we invite all CRA members and stakeholders to help us realise a safe, respectful, and positive space. We will:
Have an event participant code of conduct
Aim for optimum accessibility for all across our work streams
Challenge discrimination and a ‘one size fits all’ approaches to our sector
Encourage diverse applications for staff and Board vacancies, using blind recruitment principles to reduce bias
Have a co-opted board member with specific responsibility for EDI
Undertake regular training in the EDI space
Ensure staff wellbeing
Work with partners who demonstrate a commitment to EDI
Use data to benchmark improvement.
