We are looking for an enthusiastic Area Manager to inspire, motivate and support a team of experienced Managers and volunteers.

Multi -Site role, within Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk.

At St Nicholas Hospice Care, our shops are part of a retail team that generates an income of over £1 million to support our services for people and their families living with long-term and life-threatening illnesses. St Nicholas Hospice Care shops are located across West Suffolk as well as our online shop and Donations Centre. As well as generating income, they support the local community and signpost to Hospice services.

Following the completion of a restructure to increase the net profit contribution of our retail operations and to help support our long-term financial sustainability, we are now entering a new chapter. This includes the implementation of a new retail strategy based on maximising the profitability of donated goods. That means rethinking how we collect, price, and process items so that every donation delivers maximum value.

To support our plans, we are recruiting for a Retail Area Manager, who will oversee key sites – our Donation Centre, Barton Road Shop, St John’s Street Shop and our Ecommerce department. This is a new and exciting role, that will inspire and lead a team of experienced Shop Managers and volunteers, motivating and supporting teams to achieve sales targets and gift aid whilst providing high-quality customer service as well as an excellent donor and volunteer experience.

The ideal candidate will:

  • Have proven experience of working in and managing a diverse team of staff and volunteers and managing multiple business streams
  • Demonstrate a track record of achieving sales targets and after sales and careful control of expenditure achieving good ROI figures
  • Be a people-focused, supportive and empowering manager who encourages everyone to maximise their potential
  • Have a passion for charity retail and be target driven and innovative in their approach
