Job description
Seeking a dynamic, motivated and experienced Shop Manager with at least 2 years experience in the charity retail sector
Taylor's Animal Rehoming Centre is part of West Dorset RSPCA, a separate charity but affiliated to the national RSPCA.
Our priorities are the welfare and re-homing of local animals. A large proportion of our income comes from our 3 shops.
This is a new position, 2 days per week, to manage our Weymouth store.
Key Responsibilities
Shop Operations Management:
- Management of shop operations, including opening and closing procedures, security, and maintaining a clean and organised shop environment.
- Ensuring the shop meets sales targets.
- Monitoring and managing stock levels, including donated goods and bought-in items.
- Developing and implementing visual merchandising strategies to maximise sales and appeal to customers.
- Identifying goods that should be valued, sold at auction or sold on Ebay.
- Managing cash handling, banking, and financial records.
- Ensuring compliance with relevant regulations, including health and safety, trading standards, and data protection.
Staff and Volunteer Management:
- Recruiting, training, and supervising staff and volunteers, providing guidance and support.
- Managing staff rotas, ensuring adequate coverage, and addressing performance issues.
- Motivating and engaging staff and volunteers to contribute to the shop's success.
- Supporting staff and volunteers in achieving their personal and professional development goals.
Fundraising and Sales:
- Developing and implementing strategies to increase sales and donations.
- Promoting the shop and the charity in the local community.
- Organising and coordinating in-store promotions and events.
- Working with local businesses and organisations to secure donations and partnerships.
