Case study: World of Books x Prama

Turning books into lifelines: Prama’s successful fundraising journey with Sell Your Books Pro

For many older adults across Bournemouth, Christchurch, Poole, and East Dorset, Prama’s clubs and services aren’t just helpful; they are a vital part of daily life.

From tackling loneliness to helping people stay independent and connected, Prama brings joy to people.

But like many charities, they face ongoing challenges in raising vital funds needed to keep these clubs going. That’s why, at World of Books, we’re proud to support their mission.

“It’s now just part of our process. Even volunteers who were hesitant with tech are enjoying it and seeing the value.”
- Aaron Head, Head of Retail, Prama

The Roll-out

When Aaron Head, Prama’s Head of Retail, first heard about Sell Your Books Pro at a Head of Retail event, he saw huge potential in streamlining book donations and generating additional revenue for his charity instead of them sitting on the shelves for months.

Aaron trialled Sell Your Books Pro in one shop to start with and then rolled out our platform to the remaining 11 shops after seeing the smooth process and the value they can get from each book.

By joining World of Books - Sell Your Books Pro in March, Prama took the next step in turning unused books into additional revenue to support the older people across Dorset.

“Aaron at Prama approached the introduction of new technology and process with the shop estate with great organisation and enthusiasm. They trained the shops internally with guidance from myself and the training tools we have and saw 99% of the shop estate submit a trade within the first 2 months.”

£3,000 raised for Prama

This income directly supports clubs and services for older adults, helping Prama continue their vital work in local communities.

“It was a really easy process. There were no added costs, and the couriers collected directly from us. Everything worked well within the shop environment.”

Looking ahead

Prama is exploring ways to scale their use of the platform, including pallet collections for larger stores and increasing trade volumes.

“The guaranteed income and ease of use make it a no-brainer. It’s helped us grow and support our community more effectively.”
