Treasure hunters from across Edinburgh and beyond swarmed to our Stockbridge and Stockbridge bookshop stores to make the most of the legendary event as it returned for its 23rd year.
Staff and volunteers at the Stockbridge shop offer up a huge range of some of the most exciting and unique items which have been donated over the year. Following the launch weekend on Saturday 3 January, Shelter Scotland can reveal a record-breaking £34,886 has been raised across both shops throughout the week.
On the day, a total of £14,020 was raised from the launch event.
Shelter Scotland thanks everyone who attended and made a purchase.
Some of the most sought-after items included a selection of rare, illustrated Jane Austen books, silk scarves by Liberty, and designer clothing from brands including Hobbs, Jigsaw, Brora, Ralph Lauren, Barbour, and All Saints.
Shoppers also had the chance to get their hands on a large selection of Victorian jewellery, a Georgian Hallmarked silver condiment set, and a mid-century collective tea set including Susie Cooper and Poole.
Shelter Scotland Director, Alison Watson, said:
“For more than two decades now the January Stockbridge launch event has been an extravaganza of a day for Edinburgh shoppers.
“Scotland’s housing emergency now means there are more than 10,180 children in Scotland with nowhere to call home and without urgent long-term action, homelessness will rise.
“Your support keeps us in the fight against homelessness, so I’d like to thank all our customers and donors for their generosity and for another record-breaking year."
Community shop manager Peter Jew said:
“Breaking all records. A huge shout out to thank our generous donors in the local community.”
