Future Citizen 2026 - RESILIENCE IN STYLE: Redefining Fashion

Taking place between 16 - 22 March, Future Citizen is a week of activity inviting young people to take fashion action. This can be through a basic mending workshop, a clothes swap, an upcycling session, a school uniform bank... anything that inspires and engages young folks to shift their fashion habits towards more sustainable practices.

Future Citizen programme 2026: Resilience in Style - Redefining Fashion.

Run by A Single Thread, the team behind Sustainable Fashion Week, and following a successful pilot in 2025, the Future Citizen programme brings together schools, colleges, universities and places of learning, including charity shops, across the UK to unite in action for a fairer fashion future.

“RESILIENCE IN STYLE: Redefining Fashion”

The theme for 2026 invites young people to actively shape their relationship with fashion through their own individual style.

The idea of ‘fashion’ doesn’t have to be defined for us by big brands and big business. We can design what fashion means... through how we buy it, wear it and create it.

Is your retail operation holding a sustainable fashion workshop in March? It could be:

  • Mending

  • Swapping

  • Upcycling

  • Embellishing

  • … or other remake, reuse activity
